Fishing for Lion is an edutainment series exploring the complex and invasive role of the lionfish on our ecosystem and what we can do about it. The lionfish, an aggressive, quickly multiplying, hungry and venomous species has been introduced to the North American ocean system by way of both natural disaster, Hurricane Andrew during the mid 1980s and human irresponsibility. The lionfish has been a throwaway pet subjected to aquarium dumping into nearby waterways. In each episode of Fishing for Lion we follow people who’ve figured out new ways to overcome this clever hunter. Discover how marine biologists identify and develop strategies, fishermen devise traps, and chefs are reinventing their menus with fresh and learnable techniques for this newly acquired taste. Enjoy the stories and check out the lionfish for yourself!
